We are now at 10 successful hatchings at LGP Gecko! That's 10 for 10!
Pebbles hatched out on 06/11, while her clutchmate hatched out on 06/15. Those days in between had me (Teresa) worried! Our other hatchlings usually came within 24 hours of their clutchmate. The latest little one, Bam Bam, is our first to have solid sides, and also the first to give us sass right out of the shell! I was trying to coax him into walking into his cricket keeper by gently poking his butt but he kept turning around with his mouth wide open! Here he is just coming out his egg...goo and all.
We think Bam Bam is going to look like Dad (Goliath) and Pebbles is showing yellow/orange and will look like mom (Gambit).
Pineapple is beginning to gain weight, good news for anyone awaiting tri color pinstriped harleys... because Spike is waiting for her, too! Caught her stretched out on the glass and snap a quick photo of her.
We were feeding everyone the Banana flavored CGD and noticed that a few of the adults had dropped weight. We have since switched to Peach flavored and noticed some gouges in the bowls the next morning. We'll know for sure on Friday when everyone gets weighed whether or not it's having an effect.
Mowgli continues to amaze us with how dark she is. This is without flash (obviously) but you can tell from her bright blue bowl how dark she is... practically black!! She has the little white on her tail, her mouth, and slight fringing but other than that... she's just a dark beauty.
I have been trying to prove people wrong with this one... the existence of a green crested gecko. It is the hardest thing to capture in photos. Here's Pickles, named because of his color, who, YES, is green about 95% of the time. He does fire to a dark green (olive) but this photo was taken after I was handling him for several minutes and he still was this green. He's so calm, too, *sigh* my favorite of all.
We did add another lovely lady to our collection, Peach, who hasn't gotten a photo shoot yet, but we'll save that for Friday after weights. For a "preview", she has Gambit's color (yellow) but some of Rafiki's traits (essentially patternless, with the dark lines on the sides of the dorsal but no change in the color of it, if that makes any sense).
We don't expect any more hatchlings for at least 2 weeks (Rafiki's, big surprise, she's an egg laying machine!) and then there will be another 2 week gap until Nala's hatch!
That's it for now.... but be sure to check out our available page. Doc, Ducky, and Uno are all looking for homes!
